Many Las Vegas VIP's arrive in Sin City with plans to party,
play the tables and enjoy the otherworldly exhilaration that
only Vegas can quell. Every new year brings new entertainment
and clubs in Vegas offering no mercy for what was hot yesterday
and merely tepid today. Below are few slated to electrify the
Vegas strip for a 2012 filled with ooh’s and ahhs:.
Hyde Lounge
Los Angelenos may already be familiar with the original Sunset
Boulevard and Staples Center locations by Sam Nazarian and SBE
Restaurant Group who operate more than a dozen hot spots in the
Los Angeles area. SBE has chosen the Bellagio to focus their
virgin upscale and sophisticated Las Vegas efforts. The new club
will occupy the space of the former Fontana Bar and include
commanding views of the resort’s iconic fountains The plans
include an expansive seating area near the entrance that will
include private booths and multi-level seating, a large dance
floor that flows toward an open-air patio and Lake Bellagio.
This al fresco club will take the in-door-outdoor concept of
Surrender and XS a few blocks north to an entirely different
level. In addition, it plans an early evening cocktail/tapas bar
experience before morphing into a spectacular high end, super
luxurious nightspot later in the evening. It’s on track to open
New Year’s Eve where no doubt the most celebrated of the LA VIP
star crowd will be whisked to Vegas on private jets with
exclusive invitations.
The Box
For those who are more interested in titillating cabaret rather
than sleek, slinky and stylish, the rumor mill has been spinning
off teasers about that long vacant space above Barney’s in the
Palazzo Shops. The word is it will be filled with more than a
few touches of flying nudity, tattooed freaks, jaw dropping
gender benders and New York attitude. Although the club has been
a hit in London, the original can be found in Manhattan’s lower
east side. The Box has been a favorite of the New York City
night scene and especially for those looking for something more
intimate and bawdy with lots of skin, sin, stiff drinks and
shock and awe. The original aim was to open on New Year Eve, but
it has since been pushed back to sometime early 2012.
1OAK
Another New York expansion attempt has taken hold at the Mirage
Resort and Casino along the Las Vegas Strip and this one is
aggressively on track to open on schedule with a stellar New
Year Eve event of Vegas proportions. Vegas regulars will
probably already be familiar with space that was occupied by Jet
until it closed quietly last September and New Yorkers will also
be familiar with the club known as an acronym for “one of a
kind.” Fergie is scheduled to headline this venue on NYE which
has new and cozy ambiance for the VIP crowd who enjoy an upscale
attitude with a NYC sound vibe. NYC DJ Jesse Marco is bringing
to Vegas as the in house talent. It all comes together with the
Las Vegas based Light Group will partner with NYC’s Butter group
for a collaboration that will bring together the best of both
worlds and certainly a “one of a kind” Vegas experience.
The Battle of the Las Vegas Observation Wheels
The line in the desert has been drawn for the battle of the
observation wheels. Caesars Entertainment has chalked out their
wheel as a part of an open-air dining and entertainment complex
on the sight that is currently occupied by Harrah’s and the
Imperial Palace. Skyvue Las Vegas has already claimed a location
across the street from the Mandalay Bay. Both companies are in a
virtual stare down to achieve in Vegas what has already been
accomplished in London and Singapore.
Skyvue Las Vegas has announced that their wheel will be 500 feet
and have 40 gondolas that hold up to 25 passengers while Caesars
Las Vegas High Roller claims theirs will be 550 feet with 28
gondolas. Both wheels are expected to be on-line in 2013.
