Celine Dion Review

Not many performers can say that
they’ve had an entire arena built for them, let alone a replica of
the Colosseum, yet such is the case with international superstar
Celine Dion, who returns to her platform in Las Vegas in March 2011.
Dion began her residency in Caesar’s Palace Colosseum in 2003 with
her “A New Day” concert series, and in her five years in Vegas
performed more than 700 shows, most of them sold out, impressing
over three million concert goers. Her headlining show was
revolutionary at the time, a pop artist who, instead of merely
showcasing her powerful voice, enlisted director Franco Dragone
(formerly of Cirque de Soleil and most recently of Le Reve fame) to
create a one of a kind musical experience complete with intricate
dance numbers and haute couture fashion ensembles.

Many believe that Dion’s production
paved the way for other megastars, such as Elton John and Prince,
and helped chart-topping performers see Las Vegas in a new light,
that audiences here were sophisticated enough to appreciate artists
on a larger scale. Dion departed Vegas to embark on a world tour
between 2008-09, and her place in the Colosseum was filled with
large shoes, becoming home to both Bette Midler and Cher. And now
she is back and prepared to enchant audiences once again with such
recognizable hits as “My Heart Will Go On”, “It’s All Coming Back to
Me Now”, and “Power of Love” with an ensemble of 31 musicians in her
accompanying orchestra. In 2009, Dion was named the second best
selling female artist of the decade, having sold more than 17
million albums. Las Vegas was lucky enough to house such an
accredited and classy solo act three years ago, and no doubt Dion’s
star appeal will shine even brighter over the lights of the Strip
this time around.
