As the dog days of summer roll through into August, the parties in
Las Vegas keep heating up! The pool parties are in full swing up and
down the strip and all the hottest DJs are taking their summer
vacations to Las Vegas. Steve Aoki is
quickly becoming a full time resident DJ on the Las Vegas scene as
he has taken over Encore's hot new club Surrender on Friday nights,
dubbing it Aoki's House, and rightfully so. He headlines this month
on August 13th. Aoki started his own record lable back in 1996 in
California and has since gone on to remixing songs for artists such
as Drake, Weezer and even Michael Jackson. Having made a name for
himself in the music industry, Aoki started DJing parties and earned
awards such as Best DJ of the Year by Paper Magazine in 1997 and
Best Mix Album of the Year by Billboard in 1998. Hopefully Aoki has
found a home on the Las Vegas strip, and judging by the long lines
of people trying to get into house nightclub
Surrender this summer, the crowds like what they hear! Aoki will
also rise early on August 8th to play at
Encore Beach Club. Hip Hop fans will also get a few treats this
month as
Pure welcomes rap artists Mims and Chingy to the stage on August
21st and Ja Rule the following week on August 28th. Mims started his
career in Canada where he produced a few tracks that were never
released in the US.
Taking matters
into his own hands, he formed his own lable back in the states,
American King Music, where he produced the chart topping singles
"This is Why I'm Hot" and "Like This". Chingy, Mim's stage partner
at Pure, got his start touring with Nelly back in 2002 and then
became a protege of Ludacris, who featured him on the hit single
"Right Thurr". Chingy's 2006 sollo album also produced hits "Pullin
Me Back" and "Dem Jeans". Mims and Chingy together on the stage at
Pure
promises to be a night of hip hop hits! The following week at
Pure, Ja
Rule hits the stage. Ja Rule became insanely popular from 2000 to
2004 racking up chart-topping hits and collaborations such as
"Always on Time" with Ashanti,
"I'm Real" with Jennifer Lopez and
"Between Me and You" with Christina Millian. Ja Rule has been quite
on the scene for a few years but is supposedly working on compiling
a new album titled "The Renaissance Project" to be released sometime
this year. No doubt the party people at
Pure
will welcome the rap star back to the stage as he performs old
favorites and hopefully new tracks! No doubt, if you have a pulse,
you have heard of the infamous Playboy Mansion party that happens
once a year, the Midsummer Night's Dream Masquerade. Well this
summer the
Palms Pool takes over the night of masked debauchery on Saturday
August 14th. The pool area is being transformed into a fantasy Mount
Olympus and masks or costumes are required for entry. Needless to
say, the Palms is host to the party of the month this August. The
party debuted at the Playboy Mansion back in 1997 when the theme was
Arabian Nights. If sexy fantasy and scantily clad beautiful people
are your type of thing, than do not miss the Masquerade party!
