Light nightclub was known as the top club in Vegas back in 2004 at the Bellagio hotel (now occupied by Bank). Opening in April of 2013, at the Mandalay Bay resort and casino, is a new vision created from a collaboration between The Light Group and the Canadian theater company, Cirque du Soleil. The combination of Cirque du Soleil flair with The Light Group's nightclub expertise will accent intricate lighting with impressive acrobatics for an exciting visual display. The 38,000-square-foot venue will present it's guests with an amazing ambiance that will instantly put Light back on the Las Vegas strip.
Mandalay Bay's Light, created from a collaboration between Las Vegas' own The Light Group and Cirque du Soleil, is a nightclub unlike any other on the Las Vegas Strip. Taking up the 38,000 square foot space that once housed Mandalay Bay's restaurant and nightclub hybrid, RumJungle, Light utilizes every inch of the entertainment space, from the floor right up to the ceiling. This brand new experience, under the management of The Light Group’s founder Andrew Sasson, delivers something that, until now, had not yet been perfected in a Las Vegas nightclub.
Combining the intricacies of The Light Group's impressive light shows with the awe inspiring acrobatic techniques of Cirque du Soleil's performers, Light gives its patrons something else to focus on besides each other. At any given moment throughout the night, a group of Cirque's performers will perform their staple acrobatics on custom built stages and fixtures provided by the special effects crew at the Moment Factory. Donning avant-garde, Cirque du Soleil's acrobats will work together with The Light Group’s lighting displays to create a mesmerizing display. A massive LED screen moves to the crowd’s movements, creating a focal point of the club that accents Cirque's performers. There is no set routine for these performers, so every night in the club offers a different show of acrobatics.
Back on the floor, Light provides its patrons with an unrivaled nightclub experience. Filling up a bulk of the 38,000 square feet is the largest dance floor in Las Vegas to accommodate general admission guests. The massive dance floor will also play host to several of Cirque du Soleil's performers, who help to integrate Las Vegas' nightlife with the Canadian troop’s impressive stage productions. Though guests may get enthralled by the mini-acrobatic shows, resident DJs Skrillex, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Zedd and Baaur will pump the space with a mash-up of differing music types, ranging from top 40 to house. Fueling the entertainment are three 100-foot bars, all serving a plethora of refreshing cocktails.
Like any good Las Vegas nightclub, Light offers an assortment of VIP seating that provides various viewpoints of this intricately lit club. The club is divided into three different levels, with the lower level housing the dance floor and the upper two providing a bit more of an intricate setting for several rings of VIP booths. In these premium seats, guests will overlook the expansive nightclub and will get perfect views of the Cirque du Soleil performers and the party happening down below.
