When a new nightclub opens in Las Vegas you better believe that
their one goal is the be the hottest space in town. One to rival
all other competition on the Strip. Some spaces do not succeed
against the popularity of the other nightlife conglomerates.
However, when the Tao Group opened the much anticipated doors to
the Las Vegas outpost of their New York club, Marquee, on New
Years Eve 2011, the nightlife Gods were pleased. Located in the
brand new, the $60 million dollar Marquee
opened to a bang heard ‘round the world, and is proving its
staying power by the hundreds of scantily clad ladies and dapper
gents vying for entrance every weekend.
The club itself spans a monumental 60,000 square feet and is
divided into three separate rooms. The main room is accented by
a 40 foot LED DJ booth and projector screen that provides club
goers with an electronic visual show to match the styles of any
number of world famous Djs that have taken the tables over at
Marquee (Morillo, Kaskade, Sanchez, Schultz, Van Doorn,
anyone?). A drawbridge lines the huge screen where go-go dancers
groove to the beats high above the crowd. Behind the DJ booth is
a custom programmed iPad that allows the DJ to trigger smoke,
confetti and pyrotechnics to accompany the rise and fall of
their music, much to the crowd’s delight.
There are several bars
located throughout the room so finding a drink without having
bottle service is never a problem if you are willing to wade through the sea of dancing people. Marquee is designed by The
Rockwell Group, who also did most of the designs of the
Cosmopolitan. Expect to see roman columns dotted with plush
private booths that actually allow patrons to sit down and
converse without being bumped and grinded by overeager dancers.
Overlooking the two main dance floors is The Library room which
takes a more sophisticated approach to the club scene. The
Library is decked out like the ultimate man cave with billiard
tables, fire place, dark wood accents and volumes of dusty old
books chronicling the history of Las Vegas. Downstairs from the
main room is the Boom Box Room, a more intimate club setting,
favored by many celebrity guests such as Jay-Z, Kanye West,
Beyonce, Gwyneth Paltrow and many others. Each of the three
rooms offers different musical experiences to match any mood or
taste. Marquee has jumped on the
Daylife pool party
bandwagon as well with their exclusive day club. Lined with
cabanas, each offering their own private infinity pool, as well
as three story private bungalows with rooftop pools, and two
main level pools with private gaming, the Marquee experience is
designed to start when the sun comes up and never stop.
