The
MGM Grand is one of the oldest and most recognizable staples on
the Strip and its gigantic bronze lions are featured in about
1,000,000 tourist photos. For that and many other reasons the MGM is
a must stop on any Vegas tour.
MGM is a favorite among bridal parties and the more importantly
bachelor/bachelorette
parties.
If you’re smart and take the time to eat before you begin drinking
there is a wide variety of upscale, casual and really casual dining
options within the MGM. For a delicious meal of foods you can both
recognize and pronounce Wolfgang Puck’s Bar and Grill never
disappoints. If you’re looking for the same high end feel but
lighter fare Shibuya or SeaBlue are excellent options as well. If
you want rich food with a smaller price tag try another famous name,
Emeril’s. His delicious Cajun concoctions will make you want to go
"bam" but try to restrain yourself. If dinner is just a stepping
stone to get your night going try the Rainforest Café. The food is
good, the theme is unique and the wild animals sounds playing
throughout dinner with prepare you for the night you’re about to
have.
Studio
54 is the main club at MGM and like its New York counterpart
people are there to let loose and have a good time. Trapeze
performers swing overhead and the large projection screen behind the
DJ booth makes for a fun night of sight and sound.
Tabu it
where you go to bob to premier techno music offered up but some big
names, such as Paul Oakenfold. The cocktailers tend to the VIP
couches in uniforms of lingerie and the patrons often do too. The
pulsating musc works the crowd into a frenzy and the strong drinks
do their part as well.
But the entertainment doesn’t just happen in the late hours. One of
the most popular draws to the MGM is the Lion Habitat where you can
see two or three lions hanging out or playing with their trainers
throughout the day and night. MGM’s
Cirque du Soleil show KA
is a visual interpretation of ying and yang with a moving floor that
makes the amazing stunts seem even more spectacular. Inside the
Hollywood Theatre there’s a revolving door of great performers,
including Howie Mandel. If you want more adult entertainment Crazy
Horse is the place to be. Sexy dancers twist and turn under the
strategically placed lights causing you to wonder if your eyes are
playing tricks on you or are they really topless? Yes they are but
the show is more of a sneak and peek than a full-on strip.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg that is the MGM Grand.
Walking through the casino you’re bound to find more pockets of fun
with great bars, fun shops, and exciting games. A weekend at the MGM
may not be enough to do everything there is to do but it will keep
you coming back to try.
