SPAMalot

Having achieved
phenomenal success on Broadway, Monty Pythons Spamalot has been
brought to Las Vegas and has a new home at the Wynn. The Wynn Resort
had its theater re-designed and re-named “The Grail Theater”
especially for Spamalot, and the show is bigger and better than ever.
Based on the movie “Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail”,
Spamalot is a quirky musical that follows King Arthur and his inept
knights on their travels through England. Spamalot remains true to
the humor and wit of the original film, and was written by Monty
Python cast member Eric Idle. |

Spamalot is
fast-paced and funny with plenty of memorably absurd musical numbers
(who could soon forget a chorus line of legless knights?). Die-hard
Monty Python fans will be satisfied by the inside jokes and references
to classic Monty Python sketches. Running only 90 minutes long,
Spamalot still manages to include many of the film's classic
characters – including the Knights who say “Ni”, Brave Sir Robin, and
a homicidal rabbit.
But even if you've never heard of Monty Python before, don't despair –
as there are plenty of new jokes and silly songs to give Spamalot mass
appeal. No longer simply relying on the classic British wit that made
them famous, Spamalot parodies other Broadway musicals (the knights
perform a dance straight out of “West Side Story”), the effeminate Sir
Lancelot is 'outed', and even Las Vegas is poked fun of (“What happens
in Camelot stays in Camelot”).
Playing the lead role of King Arthur is John O'Hurley, who audiences
might recognize as catalog tycoon J. Peterman from Seinfeld. Everyone
knows what a strong voice he has, but who knew he could sing too?
Like in the movie, most of the actors with smaller parts play more
than one character, and their quick one-liners and slapstick often
steal the scene.
Since its opening in March, Spamalot has been selling out night after
night. Don't miss your chance to see this one-of-a-kind show!
