D Even though Donny and Marie Osmond, along with the rest of their
musical family, have had a history performing in Las Vegas since the
70s, their duo act shown at the Flamingo, is the first residency
either Osmond has ever had. Before finding a home in Las Vegas, both
Donny and Marie had found success in the world of showbiz with
several chart-topping hits and tours of Broadway shows. When the
Flamingo brought the brother and sister act together in 2009,
advertising the headlining show with a Strip side 20 story high
poster broadcasted on the front of the Flamingo Hotel and Casino,
the Osmonds felt right at home. The Osmonds are professional stage
people, as people who grew up with |

their family variety television show
well know . Donny and Marie first took the stage together in Las
Vegas back in 1973, when they performed at Ceasar’s Palace. Their
new show, set in a vintage Vegas style theater complete with round
leather booths and multi levels, is a family friendly affair,
although most of the songs performed will only be recognized by
those born before 1980. The duo takes the stage together, playfully
teasing each other as only brother and sister can, and engaging the
audience with their powerhouse duets. Then each sibling performs a
solo set, Marie singing some of her popular country hits and melodic
ballads, while Donny opts for a more upbeat rock and roll inspired
sound, complete with smoke machine and leather jacket. Donny and
Marie
are joined onstage with several professional dancers to accompany
their music, while the two headliners try to keep up, having dance
offs between the boys and the girls, as well as a nine piece band
whose talents range from 70’s pop to Latin ballads. In a town where
sex sells most everything, it is refreshing to have a headlining
show, prominently featured on the Las Vegas Strip, that still caters
to family fun and favorite hits from decades past.
