No doubt about it. All the top music stars come to Vegas. Some have long-term residencies at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Park Theater or Zappos Theater. Others are in town for just a night or two at the T-Mobile Arena, MGM Grand Garden Arena or Mandalay Bay Events Center.

Fortunately, that means there’s something for everyone. The latest big headliner announced for the Strip is Shania Twain . After a previous residency at Caesars Palace, the country star is returning with dates confirmed for December, March, May and June. Her “Let’s Go!” production hits the stage at Zappos Theater inside Planet Hollywood. The high-tech venue also counts Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera and for a limited time this summer, Def Leppard, among its roster.

However, the hottest and newest venue in town is the Park Theater, home to residencies by Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Janet Jackson, Cher and Aerosmith. Its main competition, the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, said goodbye to Vegas heavyweight Celine Dion, but still has ongoing extended runs by the likes of Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey and Reba, Brooks & Dunn. The theater will also welcome limited runs by MadonnaGuns n’ Roses and Journey before the year is over.

But what about smaller venues? Santana has been playing the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay for years. In recent months, the Pearl Theater inside the Palms has welcomed extended runs by Lady Antebellum, Blink 182 and Billy Idol. At the Flamingo, the “Forever Your Girl” residency by Paula Abdul has dates scheduled through at least early 2020.

Speaking of which, the new year is promising exciting new residencies. Sting begins his run at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in May. Classic rockers Foreigner debut a residency of their own at the Venetian in late January.

In between all of those residencies, Vegas is ready to welcome national tours to venues like the T-Mobile Arena and Smith Center. To make the most of a Vegas vacation, plan your dates around a big concert. It only makes the experience even more rewarding.

Las Vegas Concerts 2019

New Las Vegas shows in 2019

The one thing everyone seems to want in Vegas? A good show. While it’s harder than ever for new productions to make a long-term impression on the Strip, a few newcomers are showing plenty of promise.

For the first time in years, Cirque du Soleil is introducing a new show to the Las Vegas Strip. R.U.N. is a change of pace for the Toronto-based production troupe. It combines elements of an action thriller with the latest technology to offer something completely new and perhaps more engaging than the typical Cirque plotline. R.U.N. begins at the Luxor in late October.

Another show giving Cirque a run for its money is Celestia, which takes place under a circus-inspired tent in the parking lot of The Strat (formerly known as the Stratosphere). After preview performances in May, the official run begins in June. Celestia brings together dancers, acrobats, and aerialists. Some of the acts have been previously featured on “America’s Got Talent” and “The Greatest Showman.”

Of course, the Vegas entertainment scene isn’t truly complete without the presence of the King. Elvis Presley’s Heartbreak Hotel in Concert is a new show at Harrah’s that combines classic music with special effects, including four large LED video walls. The show is a journey through Elvis’ early years, telling the story of how the singer rose to fame.
