Las Vegas Residency Artists in 2020-2021

Las Vegas is home to some of the biggest names in music.

There’s no other city that welcomes so many top headliners on a regular basis. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought concerts, stage productions and other forms of live entertainment to halt. But Sin City isn’t sitting still. Residency artists are ready to return once business returns to normal, whether it’s in late 2020 or 2021. In the meantime, do you research and learn about the most in-demand headliners in Las Vegas. Some shows remain on sale. Any cancellations will receive a refund.

Usher: The Las Vegas Residency

Colosseum at Caesars Palace View Map

This could be the beginning of a big comeback for Las Vegas. Usher is the first new Strip residency announced for 2021. The hip-hop and R&B star is scheduled to kick off a run at the 4,300-seat Colosseum at Caesars Palace in July with dates running through at least New Year’s Day 2022. It’s a sign of optimism that live entertainment will return by mid-2021, if not sooner. Usher has a deceptively long career, first hitting the charts in 1993 and breaking through with “You Make Me Wanna…” in 1997. His biggest hit, “Yeah!,” dominated dance clubs in 2004, and Usher remains active with new music today. He’s a rare star that crosses generations while retaining a contemporary image, making the residency a sure bet for 2021.

Katy Perry

Fair warning: this one is just a rumor. However, it comes from Katy Perry herself. The singer hosted a Q&A session on Facebook recently and gave a wink when asked “Any chance you’re gonna consider doing a Vegas residency?” While nothing has been announced (and the COVID-19 pandemic adds uncertainty to any future plans), it would be great to see a hot new pop residency hit the Vegas Strip in the near future. Either the Park Theater or Zappos Theater would be ideal since both venues lean toward contemporary acts. However, the Colosseum at Caesars Palace may want to liven things up after losing Celine Dion as a headliner. (And according to the Review-Journal, she was seen touring the venue last year.) Either way, Katy Perry is guaranteed to play her hit, “Waking Up in Vegas” — if she ever does come to town.

Unfortunately, we're not aware of any shows scheduled at the moment.

Barry Manilow: The Hits Come Home!

Westgate International Theater View Map

Barry Manilow has been playing Vegas on-and-off for so many years, he’s almost identified with Sin City in the same way Elvis Presley was. In that context, it’s only appropriate that the singer and songwriter’s “The Hits Come Home” residency is at the Westgate, the same property that once hosted the King decades ago. Manilow has done it all, winning Grammy, Tony, and Emmy awards over a career that now spans more than 50 years. Along the way, he’s scored iconic hits like “Mandy” and “Copacabana.” Despite being well into his ’70s, Manilow continues to earn rave reviews and can count more than 500 performances at the Westgate’s International Theater.
