We are a group 8 girls coming into Las Vegas in October for a bachelorette party. We hope to find a cheap luxury penthouse on the Las Vegas strip for around $1,000 – $1,500 a night. Is this possible? We are able to come during the week if needed. I figure that a two bedroom suite should work for us if we could get an extra single bed in each room (3 people in each bedroom and 2 people in the living room area).

One more thing… how soon would we need to book suites to get the best deals?

Coming during the week will indeed save you a lot of money. It will also make booking a higher end suite easier as many 2+ bedroom suites are held for VIPs such as high rollers or celebrities. The ones that are available tend to book up quickly. October is almost 3 months away, so now is an ideal time to book.
When someone says bachelorette or bachelor party the hotel that comes to mind most is The Cosmopolitan. There a a few different ways you could look at booking here. You said Penthouse, and Cosmo does have them. The Penthouses that are bookable are located in the West Tower, the West End Penthouses. These are 2 and 3 bedroom suites that have a large living room, touch pad control systems, and feature butler service. They run about $1200-1500 per week night, with a 2 night minimum stay. Despite what Cosmo’s staff says, some of these suites do come with balconies, though most do not. Personally I think an outdoor space at Cosmo is key, that is why, when my friend had his party, he reserved a Wrap Around Terrace Suite for himself and the party, and a Terrace One Bedroom connector. Then other people got their own rooms at Cosmo and nearby properties. This actually would be the most cheap option to consider as the Wrap Around, while a very nice suite, is fairly common in the property. There are 4 of them on each floor, and in each tower vs only a few Penthouses. The great thing about the Wrap Around Terrace Suite is that it comes with a full kitchen and large fridge, which you can use to store your own beverages. Just be discreet bringing them in.
The final option at the Cosmo is the Lanai Suite. These start at $500 a night, though more commonly $700 a night during the weekdays. They are recently renovated and most, not all feature direct access to the Cosmo pool deck. They are two story suites with high ceilings, a drop down projector TV, and an outdoor area with private hot tub. You could book this suite and then a few City View or Terrace Studio rooms for the rest of the girls.
Looking at other properties, and keep in mind since I don’t have your specific dates, I can’t see exact prices I would also highly recommend some of the MGM resorts. On a price basis they come out very favorable. The Mandalay Bay for instance has 2 Bedroom Suites called the Panoramic Queen Suite. This has 2.5 baths, 3 beds, a wet bar, and was recently renovated. Mandalay Bay has one of the best pool areas in Vegas, with a dayclub, wave pool, lazy river, and sandy beach. During a weekday you can pick this suite up for about $500, possibly less. You can also book adj. rooms so your guests don’t have to sleep on rollaways, or use the extra money for something fun.
The sister hotel to Mandalay Bay, Delano Las Vegas also has great suites. The 2 Bedroom Suite has 3 beds, 2.5 baths and starts around $350 per night. If you want a Penthouse they range from 1600-2100 sq/ft and are great for entertaining as they have a capacity of up to 35 guests. With this one you would need to get a connecting room. The Penthouse without connector starts in the upper $500 range on a weekday. These suites are on the top 3 floors of the hotel, directly below Rivea/Skyfall Lounge, and all feature fantastic views. Delano guests get access to all Mandalay Bay facilities plus have exclusive access to Delano Beach Club. Keep in mind, early October most pools in Vegas will be open. The later you go in the month, it gets colder and many pools shut down. I’m actually holding my wedding in town at the beginning of October, because that is when the weather is best. Not too hot, not too cold, and open pools for our guests!
I would also look into MGM Grand. Like Mandalay Bay, it has a good pool complex. The Skyline Marquee Suite could fit your needs, though while 2 Bedroom, only has 2 beds. These are roughly 1600 sq/ft and are on the ends of the hotel so you get good views. The ones facing the airport feature pool tables, the rest feature a large dining table. They are modern, comfortable, and easily fit in your budget. You could most likely give everyone else their own Grand Tower room here even and still be under budget. Stepping up from that, the Skyline Terrace Suite features a loft stay (2 stories) with an almost 800 sq/ft terrace with multiple seating areas. Keep in mind this is a 1 Bedroom Suite, though there is a 2 Bedroom version that is equipped as handicap accessible. If you really want to book something special at MGM Grand, look into a Skyloft. The 2 Bedroom Loft starts around $1,400 per night, but gives you out of this world service. You receive airport pickup/drop off in a Rolls Royce or Limo, butler service, line passes, VIP lounge access and so much more. The Loft itself is approximately 3,000 sq/ft spread out over 2 stories. Each bedroom has a bathroom that is larger than most regular hotel rooms. It features an infinity tub with lights and champagne bubbles, an immersion chamber shower with steam function, and a huge walk in closet. The downstairs features a pool or fooseball table, multiple living rooms, a formal dining room, an office area, and Crestron remote controls for all lighting, drapes, and music. Speaking of music, you can pump it through the built in sound system, and since the Loft is practically soundproof, you won’t bother the neighbors, which could be me since this is one of the hotels I have chosen for my upcoming October stay. Yes, that is how much I love this place. It really is like no other hotel in Las Vegas.
