the hotel does accommodate families by have
a show with no nudity at 7:30 every Saturday evening. The costume
designers boast that there are a thousand different costumes, miles of
sequins, and headpieces that weigh as much as thirty-five pounds.
Jubilee! is much more than just a girly show.
There are long scenes full of hi-tech scenery on their huge stage. The
temple of Samson and Delilah is destroyed during that production number,
with other important scenes as well, building to the epic sinking of the
Titanic. Those set changes are extreme, and take some time…so the show
provides wonderful singing, dancing, and novelty acts to entertain the
audience while the stage is being prepared.
To give you an idea of how much work it takes to set up those scenes,
Jubilee! maintains 47 stagehands. It takes nine of them just to move the
Titanic to the elevators. You can imagine what kind of skill and timing
is needed to get those scenes in place in just a few minutes!
The performers rotate, allowing guests who want to see the show again to
have some different acts each time they come. My personal favorites are
the Los Huincas Argentinean Gauchos, who perform amazing tricks with
their boleadoras, and the Long Twins, who are contortionists who have
the most amazing strength and muscle control. Their ability to defy
gravity is mind boggling.
The grand finale is a tribute to the 40’s, featuring the dancing style
of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Included is the tall staircase and
unending parade of gorgeous showgirls made popular by Flo Ziegfeld in
the 30’s.
If you really want to appreciate what it takes to put together a
spectacular of this magnitude, take the backstage tour (no one under
thirteen is eligible for it). You will be escorted by a member of the
cast, and get to see the props, costumes, headdresses as a part of the
tour. Your guide will share the history of this last big Vegas show, as
well as some of the personal experiences and faux pas that have occurred
through the years.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see Jubilee!... the last of the
great Las Vegas spectaculars…there will never be another like it!
