If you’re in the mood for a Saturday Night fever, then catch the Australian Bee Gees show, a 75 minute tribute concert located in the Excalibur Hotel/Casino on the strip inside the Thunder From Down Under showroom.
Originating out of Manchester, England, the Bee Gees, comprised of a brotherly trio known as the Gibbs, Barry (singer), Robin (guitar, keyboards), and Maurice (bass), delved into various musical styles throughout the 60s and early 70s, but it wasn’t until they provided the musical soundtrack to the John Travolta smash hit Saturday Night Fever, where they became international superstars as their musical grooves became synonymous with the late 70s disco era. With hits like “Stayin’ Alive,” “Night Fever,” “More Than A Woman” (to name a few) have made them music legends, rock and roll hall of famers with 120 million records sold worldwide, and this tribute show does a great service in bringing the musical spirit of the band to the Vegas stage.
The Aussie version with Michael Clift (as Barry), David Scott (as Robin), and Wayne Hosking (as Maurice), are spot on reflections of each member they portray ranging in the details from the beards, wardrobe, stage presence, and vocal range. This show should have you be dancing and jive talking to this beloved music with the same energy as a Studio 54 dance floor. Provided with screens as a part of their stage production, it evokes memories of 70s nostalgia with classic commercial clips and eventful footage, along with montages showcasing their 16 years together of 2,000 performances in 40 countries, earning them approval from the actual band, but equaling the same admiration as their counterparts from legions of fans all over the globe.
Open on Sundays through Thursdays at 7pm, and Saturdays at 5pm, with tickets starting at $49.95, and a variety of seating packages to choose from. This is a great show for the older folks to deepen their love for this legendary band. Along with the upbeat energy, clean lyrics in comparison to today’s mainstream music, this is something for the whole family to enjoy, and the best night fever that any Vegas stage show can provide. With the close and intimate space of the showroom, every seat in the venue feels like a front row experience to be enthralled by their accurate performances that’ll have you be staying alive during and after the show.
