Light Review

Light nightclub is the top nightlife attraction at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in the south end of the Strip. Taking over the 38,000-square-foot space that was formerly home to Rum Jungle, the club was originally imagined as a collaboration with Cirque du Soleil when it opened in 2013, mixing costumed performers and aerialists with DJs, drinks and dancefloors. While the affiliation is no longer in place, Light still knows how to put on a visual spectacle with lights, confetti and a massive LED video wall behind the DJ booth — along with a few of those aerial performers still swinging around.

The club's image has evolved a bit over the years, stressing a variety of music with a mixture of EDM, Top-40, hip-hop and retro cuts that can vary on any given night. The DJ lineup includes lesser-known up-and-coming artists mixed with regular appearances by the likes of Rick Ross and Ludacris. As with all clubs in Vegas, a stronger emphasis is now placed on bottle service — virtually a requirement if you want a place to sit. However, the venue has three 100-foot-long bars on multiple levels to keep the drinks flowing. Light has also introduced open bar specials before midnight to keep the dancefloor busy during the club's early hours.

With three floors looking down on the club from one direction, the club has a futuristic industrial edge with dark corridors making the venue seem more crowded than it actually might be. However, the dancefloor is designed to be packed at all times with the top two levels offering relief for those who want to focus on champagne, cocktails and socializing.
