there is an
underwater communication system so the performers won't miss their
cues. The stage cost over $100 million to build, and it can be
transformed from a bone-dry platform into a pool that's deep enough
for high-diving in a matter of seconds.
The underwater
theatrics are accompanied by live music, and the orchestra shield
themselves behind a glass wall so their instruments don't get wet. A
warning to those thinking about buying tickets in the first few rows, you do run the risk of
getting splashed!
Before the show
begins, a pair of mischievous clowns wander through the audience with
life preservers and dysfunctional umbrellas to warm up the crowd (and
sometimes get them wet!). Once the curtain is raised, you're treated
to a series of breath-taking performances both on the water and in the
air. Acrobats, contortionists, swimmers and divers all wearing
elaborate make-up and costume will have your eyes jumping from 60-feet
in the air to under the water, and then back again! The human torch
and fire-dancers provide contrast to the wetter acts, and their tribal
dances are borrowed from the exotic island cultures of Samoa and
Hawaii.
The stunts
performed in “O” are so physically demanding that many of the cast
members are not just performers but athletes too. The synchronized
swimming and high-diving acts are performed by world-class
swimmers.
There's often a
lot happening during “O”, both on the stage and in the air, the
balcony seats provide a great location to take in all the action. “O”
is incredibly popular and the best tickets can sell out months in
advance. Don't set yourself up for disappointment by missing this
show - book your tickets online today!
